Apple’s longtime Head of User Interface Design, Alan Dye, is set to leave the company after nearly two decades to join Meta. Dye, who has led Apple’s UI design team since 2015, will officially step into his new role at Meta on December 31. Apple confirmed his departure on Wednesday and announced that veteran designer Stephen Lemay will succeed him.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the news on Threads, the company’s social media platform. In his statement, Zuckerberg said that Dye will lead a newly created creative studio within Meta’s Reality Labs. The studio will combine design, fashion, and technology to shape Meta’s next generation of hardware and software experiences. Dye will report directly to Meta’s Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth.
