No two days are the same in the job for specialist social worker Danisha Rice, from graffiti workshops with teenagers to finding extra finance for families caught up in a cancer diagnosis.

After 15 years in social services , Ms Rice was looking for a role where she could spend more time with people and less on paperwork.

She found it working for the charity Young Lives vs Cancer.

She told The i Paper : “I definitely wondered what I had got myself into.”

But she added: “It’s tough, it’s rewarding – it’s what I wanted from social work.”

And it has proved to be a position to which she is very well-suited.
