Freedom Park, Bengaluru’s most recognisable public space for protests and civic movements, has been temporarily closed to facilitate infrastructure development. The decision has affected activists, daily walkers, and citizens who regularly use the 22-acre park for public gatherings, demonstrations, and peaceful assemblies.
The closure came into effect this week, with public access blocked from inside the park. As a result, protesters who would usually hold demonstrations within Freedom Park have been forced to assemble outside its gates, leading to fresh confusion around permissions and crowd management.
