Meet the new K9 squad leading high-risk raids, searches and anti-narcotics operations

Meghalaya’s war on drugs just got its most powerful upgrade yet — six elite, fiercely trained sniffer dogs now joining the frontline. Under the Drug Reduction, Elimination and Action Mission (DREAM), the state has inducted a specialised canine squad into the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), signalling its toughest stance so far against expanding drug trafficking networks.

Six New K9 Heroes

The squad includes three Belgian Malinois and three Cocker Spaniels, procured for Rs 12.54 lakh. Each dog completed months of intensive training in Bengaluru between April and November, selected for their agility, discipline, and razor-sharp scent detection abilities.
