NEW YORK -- Luigi Mangione will return to a Lower Manhattan courtroom for a pretrial hearing Thursday morning, on the one-year death anniversary of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson.
Thursday, defense attorneys will try to convince a judge to bar evidence from being included in the trial, from a gun and notebook allegedly seized from his backpack.
The 27-year-old has pled not guilty to both state and federal charges.
While his trials have yet to be scheduled, defense lawyers are trying to prevent the eventual jurors from hearing his alleged statements to law enforcement when he was arrested.
The defense argues an officer questioned Mangione without reading his Miranda rights when he was arrested inside a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
