The South Central Railway (SCR) has rolled out an OTP-based verification for Tatkal ticket bookings on 13 major trains, in line with the Ministry of Railways’ initiative to enhance transparency and curb misuse of the Tatkal system.

Passengers booking Tatkal tickets for these trains will now be required to enter a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to their Aadhaar-linked mobile number

during the transaction. Officials said the additional verification layer is aimed at preventing bulk bookings and ensuring fair access for genuine passengers.

SCR officials urged passengers to ensure their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers are updated to avoid inconvenience during Tatkal bookings. The new system is expected to streamline high-demand ticketing and reduce fraudulent practices.
