A young Bharatanatyam artiste from Karnataka has captured public attention with an extraordinary feat that blends devotion, discipline and classical artistry. R Harshita, a dancer from Hospet in Vijayanagar district, climbed the 574 steps of Anjanadri Hill in Gangavati, Koppal district, while performing Bharatanatyam completing the ascent in an impressive 8 minutes and 59 seconds.

Harshita had taken a personal vow to climb Anjanadri Hill and offer her service through dance during the Hanuman Vrat festival. Supported and guided by her parents, she fulfilled that promise by performing a range of Bharatanatyam postures and movements as she made her way up the steep steps.

After reaching the summit, Harshita continued her performance in the temple premises before having darshan of the deity.
