IndiGo’s flight disruption caused by pilot shortage is now impacting other domestic airlines too.
Six flights of IndiGo, Air India, Fly91, SpiceJet and Akasa Air were diverted from Pune on Thursday morning due to lack of vacant parking bays. Two of the diverted planes belonged to IndiGo and the rest to other airlines.
Pune airport has ten aerobridges and those remained occupied for long hours as IndiGo could not find pilots to operate the return flights.
As such other airlines were told to temporarily hold their flights into Pune. “Aircraft safety is most important and we can’t have aircraft park on runway. We expect at least 2-3 bays will be available and we anticipate the situation to stabilise in the 2-3 hours,” an airport official said .
