A vote by Congress in July to claw back funds previously allocated to the national Public Broadcasting Service and withhold future funding has left West Virginia Public Broadcasting with a $1 million revenue loss, accounting for about 20% of the state's public television and radio network's operating budget.

That's according to an auditor's report presented on Wednesday during a quarterly meeting of the West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Commission, which oversees operation of the state's public radio and television systems.

"Your organization has been dealt a tough blow," said Rob Adams, a partner with Brown Edwards Certified Public Accountants ' Charleston office. "But there's nothing in this report that shows things are going to go under in the next year or so."
