NFL picks against the spread for Week 14 from our expert staff

The calendar has turned to December, and the race for the playoffs is on as the NFL season draws to a close.

In Week 14, we have quite a few matchups on the slate that could go a long way toward determining who is postseason-bound. Headlining in Sunday Night Football is a matchup between the Chiefs and Texans, two wild card contenders who really can't afford a loss. Then, on Monday night, it's a cross-conference showdown as the Chargers take on the Eagles, which are coming off a loss to Chicago.

We have several key divisional games, most notably the Colts and Jaguars, Steelers and Ravens and Packers and Bears.

We're getting to crunch time for teams vying for playoff spots, and our experts are back to give you their picks against the spread for every matchup on the Week 14 slate.

Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions (Thursday Night Football)

Opening Line: Lions -3

Grimes: Cowboys +3

Dallas' offense is playing too well and the defense too improved to lay a field goal.

Curtis: Cowboys +3

I hate this spread, which means it could go either way, which means take the points.

Zeglinski: Cowboys +3

Dallas just beat last year's Super Bowl participants in a span of four days and is entering Detroit coming off a mini bye week. I think this is a very dangerous football team.

D'Andrea: Lions -3

I trust Detroit at home in a gotta-have-it game more than I do the Cowboys on the road.

Nettuno: Lions -3

Dallas has been competitive, but its defense won't be enough here.

Washington Commanders at Minnesota Vikings

Opening Line: Commanders -1.5

Grimes: Commanders +2

I have zero trust in the Vikes' QB situation.

Curtis: Commanders +2

How can you back the Vikes right now with their offensive issues?

Zeglinski: Commanders +2

The Commanders and Marcus Mariota are plucky enough to get a "culture" win over a bad Vikings team.

D'Andrea: Commanders +2

Marcus Mariota is kinda nice with Terry McLaurin in the lineup.

Nettuno: Commanders +2

Somehow, Marcus Mariota will be by far the best quarterback in this game.

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars

Opening Line: Colts -1.5

Grimes: Colts -1.5

The Jags have beat up on bad teams. The Colts aren't a bad team.

Curtis: Jaguars +1.5

That Daniel Jones injury is a problem.

Zeglinski: Jaguars +1.5

Daniel Jones seems compromised with his leg injury and we're probaby underrating the Jaguars. Just ... a little.

D'Andrea: Jaguars +1.5

I don't trust either of these teams, but Daniel Jones' injury-related freefall is probably enough for a good Jacksonville defense to hold strong.

Nettuno: Jaguars +1.5

The Jags aren't trustworthy, but they always find a way to beat the Colts at home.

New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Opening Line: Buccaneers -8.5

Grimes: Bucs -8.5

Tampa getting healthy at the right time.

Curtis: Buccaneers -8.5

The Saints have been fiesty enough to cover here and there. But not this week.

Zeglinski: Buccaneers -8.5

All of a sudden, the Buccaneers are fighting for their lives in the NFC South. They should cruise here.

D'Andrea: Bucs -8.5

Tampa already destroyed the Saints in New Orleans and badly need to capitalize on its soft finish to 2025.

Nettuno: Bucs -8.5

Tampa has its issues, but they won't be on display in this game.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

Opening Line: Dolphins -2.5

Grimes: Jets +3

It's getting cold outside. You know what that means for the Dolphins.

Curtis: Dolphins -3

I'm already doubting this pick, the Jets are putting together some good football as of late.

Zeglinski: Dolphins -3

Miami has enough weapons to victimize a shorthanded Jets defense. Good job, Mike McDaniel. You will make it to the end of 2025.

D'Andrea: Jets +3

Two flawed teams. Give me the home side getting points.

Nettuno: Dolphins -3

Flip a coin, I guess.

Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns

Opening Line: Browns -3.5

Grimes: Browns -4

Good luck, Cam Ward.

Curtis: Browns -4

Myles Garrett. That's all I've got.

Zeglinski: Browns -4

Myles Garrett needs just four sacks to break the NFL single-season sack record. There's a VERY good chance he gets it done at the expense of Cam Ward.

D'Andrea: Titans +4

I thought the Titans were trending toward a breakthrough last week. I was mistaken. Now, though? Oh yeah, totally gonna happen.

Nettuno: Browns -4

The Titans are so bad, man.

Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons

Opening Line: Seahawks -7.5

Grimes: Seahawks -7

If the Seahawks are who I believe them to be, they should shut down Kirk Cousins and win this easily.

Curtis: Seahawks -7

I do have concerns about the

Mike Macdonald's defense is going to tear apart a washed Kirk Cousins like a feral pack of wolves.

D'Andrea: Falcons +7

West coast team, early east coast game.

Nettuno: Seahawks -7

Cross-country trip for the floundering Falcons is concerning.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens

Opening Line: Ravens -5.5

Grimes: Steelers +6

I need to see more from Baltimore's offense before I'm ready to lay a touchdown.

Curtis: Steelers +6

Two teams with major enough flaws that the points seem like the play.

Zeglinski: Ravens -6

The Ravens are probably worse than we thought when fully healthy but they're still better than the Steelers, who really need a hard reset.

D'Andrea: Ravens -6

Every Steelers game is as pleasant as dental surgery.

Nettuno: Ravens -6

Steelers' collapse is going to continue.

Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills

Opening Line: Bills -6

Grimes: Bengals +5.5

Joe Burrow can make some things happen against Buffalo.

Curtis: Bengals +5.5

Sure, the Cincy defense is an issue, but in a shootout, Joe Burrow will keep this one close.

Zeglinski: Bills -5.5

I don't think Cincinnati will catch Buffalo off guard the way it did to Baltimore. The Bills simply can't afford to lose this game in a crowded AFC playoff race.

D'Andrea: Bengals +5.5

Josh Allen's gonna do some heroic stuff against a bad defense. Then Joe Burrow will get a chance to do the same against a merely average one.

Nettuno: Bills -5.5

The Bengals' brief momentum is going to be interrupted in Buffalo.

Denver Broncos at Las Vegas Raiders

Opening Line: Broncos -7.5

Grimes: Broncos -7.5

The Raiders are an instant fade.

Curtis: Broncos -7.5

Yikes, Raiders.

Zeglinski: Broncos -7.5

Las Vegas is just playing out the string while the Broncos are starting to think about potentially capturing homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

D'Andrea: Broncos -7.5

Las Vegas found a way to lose by 14 to the Browns at home.

Nettuno: Broncos -7.5

I don't really trust the Broncos, but I trst them enough to pick them here.

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

Opening Line: Packers -6.5

Grimes: Bears +6.5

Surprised the spread is this large.

Curtis: Bears +6.5

This spread is WAY too big for a divisional matchup between two good teams.

Zeglinski: Bears +6.5

This feels like a weirdly big spread for a matchup with a combined 17 wins in December. For all the talk about the Bears' soft schedule, the Packers have the same amount of wins (two) over teams with current winning records. This is gonna be a dogfight in the NFL's most classic rivalry.

D'Andrea: Bears +6.5

Chicago isn't gonna make it easy. And Green Bay doesn't do easy to begin with.

Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals

Opening Line: Rams -8.5

Grimes: Rams -8

The Rams won't lay two duds in a row.

Curtis: Rams -8

A get-right game for L.A.

Zeglinski: Rams -8

The Rams have too much to play for to lose to Jacoby Brissett now.

D'Andrea: Rams -8

The Cardinals have only covered once at home this season.

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday Night Football)

Opening Line: Chiefs -3.5

Grimes: Texans +3.5

D-FENCE.

Curtis: Texans +3.5

That Houston defense is STIFLING!

Zeglinski: Texans +3.5

Houston feels like a burgeoning AFC superpower and has real momentum. The Chiefs feel like they're running on emotional fumes, hoping Patrick Mahomes rescues them. What do you think is more sustainable?

D'Andrea: Texans +3.5

The Chiefs win, but need a late field goal to do so.

Kansas City arrests the slide and hands the Texans a loss they can't afford.

Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Chargers (Monday Night Football)

Grimes: Chargers +3

Let's see if Omarion Hampton can give the Chargers offense a needed boost.

I don't know if Philadelphia wins, but the Chargers have enough turnstiles on the offensive edges to expect a big Eagles defensive rebound.

A matchup with the football gods' favorite pincushion is a nice way to pick up a stabilizing win.
