In a statement on Wednesday, the Conservative party said Rustad has been removed as leader because he had lost the confidence of a majority of caucus. Article content

The board passed a motion declaring Rustad “professionally incapacitated and unable to continue,” after 20 MLAs or half the caucus indicated they had lost confidence in his leadership.
The party named Trevor Halford, MLA for Surrey-White Rock, as interim leader following a caucus vote and said it’ll start a process to choose a new leader. Halford is considered a party moderate and came across from the B.C. United Party when it decided not to contest
