A person accused of planting pipe bombs in Washington, DC, ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riots was in custody on Thursday, Dec. 4, according to multiple media reports.

The pipe bombs were placed near the offices of the Democratic and Republican national committees on the night of Jan. 5, 2021, Reuters and the Associated Press reported.

The explosives were discovered on the same day supporters of President Donald Trump stormed Congress in an attempt to stop lawmakers from certifying Joe Biden 's 2020 presidential election victory.

No one was hurt by the bombs and the devices never detonated before being discovered.

This is a developing story.
