A Virginia man was reportedly arrested by federal authorities for allegedly placing two pipe bombs outside the headquarters of the Democratic and Republican National Committees on the night before the January 6, 2021, attack on the United States Capitol , a law enforcement official confirmed to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Thursday (December 4).

The reported arrest marked the first time that a suspect was determined by investigators in relation to the probe, which has sparked several conspiracy theories and remained a mystery, having been overshadowed by the Capitol riot. The official confirmed the arrest on the condition of anonymity as they're not authorized to publicly discuss the case prior to it being made public.
