Gov. Kathy Hochul signed more than 70 bills into law last month, leaving more than 200 bills passed by state lawmakers to wait for the governor’s signature or veto before the end of December.

Some of the bills waiting for Hochul’s decision would have a sweeping statewide impact, including a series of prison reform bills and the Medical Aid in Dying Act . The latter would allow terminally ill patients to end their lives with the assistance of a doctor.

Other bills yet to be acted on by Hochul would have a regional impact. Here’s a look at five bills sponsored by Central New York lawmakers that passed the state Assembly and Senate this year and await the governor’s decision.
