In a year saturated with strip-mined IP and algorithm-driven music drops, Netflix’s “ KPop Demon Hunters ” emerged as something entirely unexpected: an animated feature boasting an original soundtrack that finely balances the hook-driven idiosyncrasies of K-pop with the narrative necessity of a musical. The response was as swift as it was unprecedented.

Within days of release, “KPop Demon Hunters” dominated Netflix’s upper reaches. The music charts told a similar story. “Golden” raced to No. 1 and, earlier this month, earned three Grammy nominations, including song of the year, while the soundtrack produced three additional Top 10 hits.
