Actor Eric Dane is refusing to let his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis diagnosis define him, instead transforming his personal struggle into a public call for awareness and action.
The 53-year-old discussed his battle with the progressive neurodegenerative disease during a virtual panel on Tuesday for Giving Tuesday alongside Brian Wallach and Sandra Abrevaya, co-founders of I AM ALS and Synapticure.
The former “Grey’s Anatomy” star recently appeared in a guest role on “Brilliant Minds,” portraying an ALS patient. He described playing a character with the same condition he faces as “cathartic” and “so real.”
Dane first revealed his diagnosis in April and has since emerged as an outspoken advocate for ALS patients, Parade noted.
