The South Hadley girls’ soccer team announced on Instagram last month that Richard Marjanski had retired as the Tigers’ head coach.
Though Marjanski has led the program since 2017, it didn’t make the decision any easier. Nonetheless, the nine-year coach listened to his heart and family to decide it was time to hang up the whistle and prepare for the latest chapter of their lives.
“It was a very hard decision to make,“ Marjanski said. ”But I will say my daughters and wife were a part of it. Every coach knows the amount of time you give every season, and you do miss out on a lot of family time. I am blessed with three awesome daughters who have been through the program and one who is still playing college soccer.
