A much-changed Arsenal team made easy work of Brentford on Wednesday, extending their lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 win .
Jurrien Timber was among the changes as he dropped to the bench for Ben White, who made just his second Premier League start of the season.
The Dutchman’s absence was not as sorely felt as some may have expected early on, with White and Noni Madueke linking up to great effect for Mikel Merino’s 11th-minute opener.
However, after centre-back Cristhian Mosquera was withdrawn with injury on the stroke of half-time , Timber was drafted into the centre of defence and showed his class as Arsenal secured their first clean sheet in five games.
