Mattson Tomlin, one of the screenwriters to participate in the making of The Batman, has come out to defend Paul Dano after Quentin Tarantino had some harsh opinions about the actor's performance in There Will Be Blood. Dano stars as Edward Nashton, a.k.a. The Riddler in the 2022 superhero film, which Tomlin helped write (though he didn't get credit for it). Tomlin also co-wroteThe Batman: Part II with director Matt Reeves, but Dano hasn't been confirmed to return as the villain. Regardless, he already collaborated with the actor in the first entry – an experience that has led him to say Dano is a "terrific actor" who also showed his chops as a director in the drama Wildlife.
