LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. —
A judge has denied two motions filed on behalf of a former Kentucky sheriff charged with murder.
Mickey Stines, the former Letcher County sheriff, is accused of murdering District Judge Kevin Mullins in September 2024.
On Wednesday, a judge denied Stines' motions to dismiss the indictment and to unseal the psychological evaluation.
In the motion to dismiss the indictment, Stines' attorneys claim the prosecutor "elicited false and misleading testimony" that led to the indictment and at a proceeding on Oct. 17, 2024, the prosecution intentionally failed to record the proceedings.
