SHARP COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recorded two minor earthquakes within hours of each other in Sharp County.
The USGS reported the first quake occurred at 5:05 p.m. Dec. 3. It had a magnitude of 2.0 and a depth of 8 miles.
Three hours later, the USGS recorded a magnitude 1.8 tremor at 8:15 p.m. It had a depth of 8.7 miles.
Both quakes were located about six miles east-southeast of Ash Flat and about 30 miles north-northeast of Batesville. (U.S. Geological Survey)
