Srinagar, Dec 04: The PM Surya Ghar Yojana is gaining traction in Jammu and Kashmir, with officials reporting steady growth in rooftop solar adoption.
According to officials, the scheme is reducing electricity costs for thousands of families.
Data shared by the department said 5,413 consumers out of 13,579 rooftop solar installations have already received zero electricity bills. Officials called this a clear sign of progress. They said the Union Territory has set a target to cover 83,500 households. So far, 76,000 applications have come in. Out of these, 37,500 consumers have selected vendors, and 17,151 have signed agreements.
A total of 13,615 systems have been installed. Central Financial Assistance worth Rs 96.68 crore has been released for 11,297 beneficiaries.
