CLINTON, Tenn — Jo Ann Crozier Allen Boyce, a member of the historic Clinton 12 , died Wednesday at the age of 84.
The Green McAdoo Cultural Center announced her death on Dec. 4. Boyce was one of the 12 students who broke the color line at Clinton High School and helped desegregate Tennessee schools while Black communities faced violence and threats for integration efforts.
She is the third member of the Clinton 12 to die in 2025. Anna Theresser Caswell died in March, and Bobby Cain died in September.
"We've lost such a caring and humble soul," the center wrote on social media Thursday. "Jo Ann was someone who was so generous with her own story and shared it with people across the country...The people who met her were in awe and entirely grateful for her kindness. A student was
