Katie Fox, 34, was fatally stabbed on November 7 while waiting for a bus on Smallbrook Queensway after an evening of Christmas shopping. She had autism and learning disabilities, but her family emphasized that she was "full of life and laughter" and fought for life until she passed away in hospital two days later.

A 21-year-old man, Djeison Rafael , has been charged with her murder, and a trial date has been set for May 5 next year. It is expected to last for three weeks.
