ORCHARD PARK - For almost all of his time as head coach of the Buffalo Bills , Sean McDermott has shied away from having his best cornerback shadow the opposing team’s No. 1 wide receiver.

He did some of that in Tre’Davious White’s heyday in 2019 and 2020 when he was a first-team All-Pro and a two-time Pro Bowl selection, but even then, McDermott and his defensive coordinator at the time, Leslie Frazier, usually preferred to keep White on the left side of the defense and just deal with whoever came that way.

Now, McDermott and second-year DC Bobby Babich have another true lockdown corner on the team, fourth-year veteran Christian Benford, and lately, to outstanding results, they’ve deployed Benford against the top target.

Sunday, one can safely assume they will do this again and line
