DOVER — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist while walking on the Little Bay bridges in the area of General Sullivan Bridge , according to Dover Fire Chief Perry Plummer.
Plummer said the incident occurred in the early evening Dec. 3. The pedestrian was walking on the bridge and "stepped into the travel lane," the chief said. Dover Fire & Rescue responded, said Plummer, but did not transport anyone. The medical examiner came to the scene, he said.
The bridges carry traffic between Dover and Newington along routes 4, 16 and the Spaulding Turnpike.
Plummer said he doesn't know why the pedestrian was walking on the bridge, and they did not see a broken-down car. Plummer said people talked to the driver of the car that struck the pedestrian and didn't indicate there was any im
