Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered flags around Iowa to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of a recently killed National Guard soldier.

Reynolds issued the statewide order on Thursday, Dec. 4, to honor Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, a West Virginia Na tional Guard soldier who was killed in a shooting by an Afghan national near the White House in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 26. Reynolds' order aligns with President Donald Trump's proclamation to lower flags to half-staff on all public buildings, military bases, naval facilities and Navy ships across the United States and Washington, D.C.
