OGDEN — Families in the Weber School District are celebrating after the school board voted to pause plans to close Lomond View Elementary , opting instead to bring in a third-party contractor to conduct an independent study.
The decision came after weeks of passionate pleas from parents who argued that Lomond View outperforms surrounding schools and provides a nurturing environment for their children.
At Wednesday’s meeting, the board voted unanimously to delay closure. “All in favor, say aye,” one member called out. The response: “Aye.” With that, the nearly 70-year-old school will remain open — at least for now.
Parent Michelle Jeffs called the outcome a hard-fought victory.
“This is a win. We are excited the district listened to us,” she said.
