Very often history buffs will submit old photographs to our Chatham History Facebook group, and our members – more than 11,000 of them – will post comments regarding the content.

Recently Bev Shaw submitted a photo of a scrub type brush imprinted with the logo and product line of Coltart and Son who were prominent Chatham furniture manufacturers and retailers from the latter 1800s.

Bev’s contribution was followed immediately by a great submission of Coltart and Neilson letterhead from Mark Van Raay.

The firm was commenced by Andrew Coltart and Hugh Neilson in 1870.
