The death of a 22-year-old man in northeast Edmonton on Saturday has been deemed the city’s 24th homicide of the year, said police.

Just after 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 29, police responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 160A Avenue and 83 Street, said police in a release.

Officers found a 22-year-old man, dead on scene , and found a 53-year-old woman with serious life-threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old man was placed under arrest, and homicide detectives took over the investigation.

Police said the male suspect, injured woman, and deceased man all knew each other.

An autopsy conducted on Dec. 1, determined that Jeremy Poon, 22, died of multiple stab wounds, and his death has been ruled a homicide. The 53-year-old woman remains in hospital.
