The majority of Americans under 30 believe the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction, according to a new poll from Harvard.

Only 13% of Americans aged 18-to-29 believe the U.S. is headed in the right direction, while 57% say things are on the wrong track, and 28% said unsure, according to the Fall 2025 Harvard Youth Poll from Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics.

Along political party lines, 4% of Democrats said the U.S. is headed in the right direction, compared to 33% of Republicans. A slightly lower percentage of Republicans (27%) said the country is on the wrong track, compared to 84% of Democrats. The majority of Independents (61%) said the U.S. is off-track, compared to 7% who believe things are headed in the right direction.
