EATON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - An Eaton County woman could spend more than a decade behind bars for embezzling from a vulnerable adult.
Heather Bodell of Kalamo Township was sentenced Thursday to 7-15 years in prison. Bodell, 48, was convicted in October for embezzling more than $80,000 from a Charlotte area senior. She was also ordered to pay $81,500.75 in restitution to the victim.
A jury found that Bodell stole and embezzled funds from a woman who employed her to assist in daily activities around the woman’s home.
Bodell was also previously convicted of perjury for lying under oath during a court hearing.
Eaton County Prosecutor Douglas Lloyd called Bodell’s conduct “shameful, reprehensible, and illegal,” and said her time in prison is “absolutely deserved.”
