KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Gresham Middle School student was charged with making a threat of mass violence, while two other students were charged with false reporting, the Knoxville Police Department confirmed.

Officers were notified of a potential threat made by a Gresham student on Wednesday. They learned that a male student had made a statement that constituted a threat, according to KPD.

Officials reached out to the Knox County District Attorney's Office and charged the boy, according to KPD.

During that investigation, officers also learned two other students had falsely reported that they heard a threat. KPD reached out again to the DA's Office and those two students were charged.
