When practitioners at Petrolia’s hospital need a specialist’s input for a patient, they have a new option.

Bluewater Health recently introduced a secure video app so specialists in Sarnia can see what’s going on when Petrolia doctors and medical staff ask for their input, said Dr. Michel Haddad, chief of staff with the Sarnia and Petrolia hospitals group.

Specialist consults usually happen by phone, he said.

Sometimes a call is sufficient, but, depending on the case, seeing can be easier than working from a description, he said.

The app Bluewater Health isn’t naming for cybersecurity reasons has been in place for about a month, so there’s little to say about how well it’s been received, he said.

“People are getting to know that it actually is available.”
