Get out the galoshes and don’t plan on taking them off any time soon.

“If I were to summarize the next seven days,” said Noah Alviz, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland, “it’s going to be wet.

Portland got 4.53 inches of rain in November, and the normal level for the month is 5.45 inches.

But, after that relatively dry November, the rain has already begun in the Portland area and beyond.

“We have a series of weather systems coming in with the first one coming in right now,” Alviz said.

And then, he said, “all eyes are on next week, where we’ll have at least a moderate level atmospheric river.”

Starting Monday, that band of water vapor is expected to bring a lot of rain to Western Washington and parts of Northwest Oregon.
