Fulton, N.Y. - The Fulton School District is sending students home early Thursday after a National Grid power outage left about 4,500 customers with no electricity.

The outages were reported in Fulton, Volney, Granby and Hannibal.

The Fulton district, which has about 3,000 students, announced at 12:57 p.m. that students were being dismissed early.

The National Grid outage map showed 4,463 customers lost power across the area at about 12:27 p.m.

About 3,200 customers were restored by 1:40 p.m., according to Jared Paventi, a spokesperson for National Grid. The rest were restored shortly after 2 p.m.

Paventi said the cause of the outage was weather-related but did not provide any more details.
