RUSK COUNTY, Texas — The alumni of the Concord Rosenwald School , a segregated school in Rusk County, will celebrate the school's 100th anniversary this weekend.

In Mount Enterprise, one of the few remaining Rosenwald schools in East Texas, Concord Rosenwald School , has been standing since 1925. The Rosenwald schools were created to give African American children in the South state-of-the-art schools, according to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. When segregation in education was declared unconstitutional, the Rosenwald schools became obsolete.

Alpheus Moss, president of Concord High School Alumni Association and 1966 graduate, said the Concord Rosenwald School is one of the few remaining Rosenwald schools still standing.
