BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (WIS) - At a Midlands school, one teacher decided decades ago to skip retirement. Now about to turn 90, Mark Doty continues walking into his classroom each day at Lee Academy.
“Open your Chromebooks please, and we’ll get started on chapter seven, lesson one,” Doty said to his students.
While education has evolved with technology in recent years, the Lee Academy science teacher’s passion for teaching is standing the test of time.
“I’m the type of person, I’ve just got to have something to do. I don’t have any idea I would’ve lasted this long if it hadn’t been for the fact that I was doing what I’m doing now,” Doty said.
