MADISON COUNTY, N.C. —
Several school districts in western North Carolina have announced delays due to potential winter weather on Friday morning.
Avery County
Due to the weather forecast, Avery County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students, Friday, Dec. 5.
If any changes to this plan become necessary, an updated announcement will be made by the district before 6:30 a.m.
Madison County
Madison County Schools announced a two-hour delay for Friday, Dec. 4.
The district will be on a two-hour delay due to the forecast calling for freezing rain after midnight with the potential for ice accumulation in areas throughout the county.
School officials will reassess road conditions and announce any further changes to the schedule before 6:45 a.m. Friday.
