CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - As temperatures drop across eastern Iowa, local businesses with crews working outdoors — or responding to winter emergencies — say this early stretch of cold is a preview of what’s ahead.
Plumbing technicians and construction teams told TV9 that the first cold snap often brings a surge in calls, long workdays, and added safety concerns.
Plumber technician John Clymer said winter weather can quickly turn routine days into emergency responses.
“I haven’t gotten any frozen pipes yet, but they’re coming,” he said.
