WASHINGTON — Mayor Bowser has activated an Extreme Cold Alert on Thursday, beginning at 8 p.m. The alert will stay in effect through Friday at 9 a.m.
The District Snow team will start pre-treating the roads at 7 p.m. Thursday. All major roadways and elevated structures will be salted starting at midnight.
This is all in preparation for a wintry mix that is expected to pass through our area starting on Friday. The National Weather Service is forecasting snow to start between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday morning with steady activity between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Snow is expected to taper off between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., with a possible accumulation of an inch or more.
