EAST LONGMEADOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The childhood vaccine schedule could see some major changes as the CDC’s Immunization Advisory Committee met on Thursday to consider revisions to long-standing practices and delayed their vote until Friday.

Western Mass News spoke with a local pediatrician on what this could mean for the future of children’s health. Dr. John Kelley of Redwood Pediatrics said we need to start thinking about vaccines in the same way we think about car seats and wearing seatbelts.

You buckle the child into your car before backing out of the driveway, you could go a block, a mile, even further and without a car seat, the child could be fine. But there’s always that chance that even on your street, you could get into an accident with horrible consequences.
