Since last week’s shooting of two young National Guard members from West Virginia just blocks from the White House, the Trump administration has been in high dudgeon. Their target? Not simply to bring the 29-year-old alleged shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, to justice or perhaps mourn Sarah Beckstrom , 20, who died from the wounds she suffered that day or even to provide assistance to Andrew Wolfe, 24, who remains hospitalized in critical condition, but to strike at refugees from Afghanistan and other “third world” countries retroactively vetting at least 230,000 who have legally resettled in the United States and “permanently pause” immigration from those nations.
The attack last Wednesday was horrifying. All Americans can surely agree on that. But why did it happen? What was going on
