A former high school football player and his mother have filed a lawsuit claiming they were attacked by students during football practice while the team’s coach failed to intervene.

The mother and son were attacked two years ago on the football field at Bridgeton High School, according to the lawsuit, filed Oct. 10, in Superior Court of Cumberland County.

The students were attending practice in the fall of 2023 when three players assaulted and seriously injured another student, according to the suit.

After the attack, the student called his mother, 47, who arrived at the scene and was allegedly stabbed through the hand by a female, according to the complaint.

The lawsuit alleges the head coach at the time was nearby but did nothing to stop the alleged attack or the stabbing of the stud
