A Clermont man is facing multiple charges — including human trafficking — after police in Mascotte tied him to a child sex crime investigation.

The Mascotte Police Department started an investigation in May after learning of a lewd and lascivious battery on an unidentified 14-year-old.

Eventually, with the help of Homeland Security, investigators were able to identify additional victims and obtain an arrest warrant for Jon Don Bannister, Jr. of Clermont.

According to police, Bannister was arrested at his home on Rob Roy Drive early Wednesday morning after officers and agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Homeland Security served a search warrant.

Bannister remains in jail as of Thursday afternoon on $141,000 bond. He's charged with lewd or lascivious battery, posse
