MINNEAPOLIS — Two gatherings in Minneapolis on Sunday drew people of different faiths with a shared message: standing with Somali neighbors after President Donald Trump used harsh language about immigrants and renewed federal attention on enforcement actions.

“I would challenge you to believe that the Lord is already working out the prayers of His children,” said Sheletta Brundidge, who brought faith leaders together to offer support at a prayer event in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood.

Clergy prayed over Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, acknowledging what they described as a difficult position for him amid ongoing ICE raids.

“Give him the solution to what this city needs,” one leader prayed, as others called for protection for families affected by the president’s rhetoric.
