A Selma hotel continues to clean up after an untimely sewage backup that happened at the property on Thanksgiving Day.
Officials at the Hampton Inn say the backup affected overflow drains throughout the first floor of the building.
The backup was caused by a problem at a county-owned pumping station located next door to the hotel.
The incident happening on a holiday — initially slowed the response to address the problem.
County crews are currently operating the pump manually — and working to repair an electrical issue.
“That affected the pump’s ability to operate automatically as they’re designed to, ” said county engineer Anthony Crear.
