JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - As deer movement spikes across Michigan this time of year, Jackson County continues to rank among the state’s most dangerous places for drivers.
State crash data shows more than 1,500 deer-related accidents in the county last year, keeping Jackson in the top three statewide.
At Tripp’s Collision in Jackson, general manager Brandon Tripp says this season always brings a sharp wave of damaged vehicles through the shop.
“There’ll be times where we’ll see 30 to 50 deer accidents in a week,” Tripp said.
He says Jackson’s geography plays a major role, adding that “Jackson has always been in the top one to three of the whole state for deer accidents. One, because the prison is here, so there’s a lot of property, but, you know, going right up 127.”
