AMES, Iowa ( IOWA CAPITAL DISPATCH ) - Iowa State University President Wendy Wintersteen, who will step away from her position and the institution at the start of the new year, said Thursday her last days have been spent preparing for a presidential transition.
Many people have thanked Wintersteen and touted what she’s leaving behind when she retires, including decades of service to the university in different roles and the plans and partnerships she helped cultivate during her time. Both candidates for the university presidency spoke about the foundation Wintersteen has built at ISU, and incoming president David Cook told community members before his selection that he wouldn’t “reinvent the wheel” that she got rolling.
