ROCHESTER, Minn.-Paul Bunyan Plumbing and Drains says when it comes to frost prevention for pipes in the winter its better to be safe than sorry.

The plumbing service says one way to make sure the pipes feeding into your sink aren't frozen is by leaving it on a drip to make sure water is still flowing and prevent freezing overnight.

For exterior spigots the company says installing frost protection is important, if a homeowner doesn't want to spend the money it recommends at least emptying the line to prevent freezing.

It says for any exposed pipes homeowners should consider installing an insulated cover.

Chad Neegard, branch manager at Paul Bunyan, says investing in prevention is always cheaper than repairing thousands of dollars in water damage from a burst pipe.
